The Nikon Metaphot microscope is suitable for most applications in darkfield and reflected light metallurgical microscopy. This Nikon metaphot microscope is new old stock, having come from a former Nikon dealer's surplus inventory; however, two demonstrator objectives were added to round out the nosepiece. Nikon in the late 1980's and early 1990's were building this very robust frame that was rock solid. This microscope and others like it from that era were some of the most rugged and durable instruments ever produced for metallurgical inspection.
The Metaphot microscope features a fixed stage, a 12 volt 50 watt lamp, several neutral density filters in addition to blue, green and yellow. It is ideal for inspection and quality control of wafers and photomasks in the IC industry. Sold as shown in photograph with BD Plan 5X, 10X, 20X, and 60X objectives, CF 10X eyepieces, 2-position trinocular body, 12V 50W tungsten halogen reflected light illumination. With the addition of a substage condenser carrier and condenser, this microscope could be used in the transmitted light mode.
This unit gives breathtaking images in both brightfield and darkfield reflected light applications. All glass surfaces are pristine having no fungus, dust, scratches, or element separations. This is truly a fine microscope.
