Nikon's CF (Chromatic-aberration-Free) system totally eliminates the need for troublesome chromatic aberration compensation (typically indicated by an orange fringe around the field of view). The old standard for microscope optics has been a compensation system in which the eyepiece was designed to off-set chromatic aberration in the objective. Nikon's superior optics may upgrade the image of most older microscopes.

CF Lenses use extra-low dispersion "ED" glass, having similar properties as flourite without the internal irregular dispersion or processing difficulties. Each lense is given a multiple layer coating to ensure high-contrast images without flare and internal reflections.
